Peter Edwards is a Professor of Computing Science at the University of Aberdeen. His research focuses on how aspects of distributed computing (autonomous software agents, the grid and cloud computing) can be enhanced through the introduction of semantics and reasoning capabilities. He is Technical Director of the RCUK Rural Digital Economy Research Hub based at the University of Aberdeen (2009-2014). The Hub has received £12.4m of funding from the UK Research Councils to explore the contribution digital technologies can make to enhancing key services, generating business opportunities, boosting quality of life and promoting the economic, social and environmental stability of rural area across the UK.
