The Digital Systems Knowledge Transfer Network
The Digital Systems Knowledge Transfer Network (KTN) is a Technology Strategy Board funded network that stimulates knowledge exchange between industry, government and academia to drive the innovations that will meet the challenges of a digitally-enabled Britain. This KTN brings together expertise in scalable computing, cyber security and location and timing technologies and applications. Combined innovation in these technology areas has the power to solve emerging challenges blocking the UK's path to a digital society. The KTN's objective is to help organisations and individuals to share knowledge and ideas in these areas, stimulating the development of new products and services that can generate wealth for our economy.
The Digital Communications Knowledge Transfer Network
The Digital Communications Knowledge Transfer Network is a Technology Strategy Board funded network that seeks to, and help to drive innovation in the sector. The KTN’s aims are:
- to improve industrial performance through collaboration between Digital Communications businesses and the science-base, and across the sectors for which Digital Communications is an underpinning or transformational technology;
- to facilitate innovation and knowledge transfer, by providing UK businesses with the opportunity to meet and network with key individuals and organisations from within the UK and overseas;
- to provide a forum for a coherent business voice, informing government of its technology needs and advising on issues and regulatory matters that have the potential to impact technological innovation in the UK;
- to encourage increased inward investment, supporting the growth of the UK based activities of global companies involved in Digital Communications technologies and services;
- to promote Digital Communications as a vibrant and rewarding sector in which to work, illustrating the career potential that the sector can offer and attracting potential students into the discipline.
RCUK Energy Programme
Digital Economy is the novel design or use of information and communication technology to help transform society, business or the lives of individuals. The research will understand both the technologies and also why change is needed, what the impacts will be and who will benefit.

Formed in 2004, Zolk employs a dedicated team of professionals with a substantial range of skills in research, conceptual design, build and deployment of online services for the public and private sectors. Zolk has extensive research and design experience in the fields of Life long learning, social inclusion and adult learning and specialises in the design of learning opportunities for online or blended learning modules. The Digital Communication KTN
The Digital Communications KTN is a not-for-profit company established by the digital communications industry to facilitate knowledge transfer within the digital communications sector and with and other sectors. It is funded by the TSB and organises events around the UK and working groups which deal with issues of importance to digital communications.
Futurelab
Futurelab is a not-for-profit organisation that is dedicated to transforming teaching and learning, making it relevant and engaging to learners of all ages and backgrounds through the use of innovative practice and technology. Its work covers both topical and forward-thinking areas including: curriculum innovation; building capital programmes; and computer games.

The Rural Digital Economy Research Hub
The Rural Digital Economy Research Hub at the University of Aberdeen, funded through the RCUK’s Digital Economy programme, explores the digital challenges and transformative opportunities for rural communities across the UK. This research is based around four interconnecting themes: Accessibility & Mobilities, Healthcare, Enterprise & Culture, and Natural Resource Conservation.

KIT-OUT (Knowledge, Innovation & Technology out of University into Tourism)
KIT-OUT aims to encourage collaborative projects between Glasgow Caledonian University and small and medium sized businesses operating in tourism and tourism related sectors. Assistance and advice is available in 5 key sectors – IT & Communications, Food Technology, Green Technologies, Sustainable Buildings & Construction and Business Process Improvement.
